1. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Report claims that the meeting which had in attendance VP Osinbajo and some APC governors was a last minute effort to stop Saraki and other APC leaders from dumping the party.

2. A former Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie, is dead. He passed away at the age of 76. Report says the ex-Police boss died at Orthopaedic Hospital in Katsina at 6pm on Thursday.

3. Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West district at the National Assembly Thursday allegedly escaped another assassination attempt on his life as unknown gunmen allegedly shot at his car. The Senator, who arrived Kogi State to commission over 143 projects scattered across the seven local government areas that formed the district was attacked by some men in uniform and his whereabouts remain unknown since then.

4. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday, recanted his decision to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, following a meeting he had with the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole. Addressing journalists after the meeting, Ortom said the party’s leadership assured him that no individual in Benue state can push him out of the party.

5. Gunmen have assassinated Mr Solomon Sani, Director of Works at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi. Kogi Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya, told newsmen on Thursday that Sani was assassinated in his Idah residence on the evening of Tuesday, July 17.

6. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday hinted on pulling out of the 2019 general elections if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies fail to establish their impartiality. PDP’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus said this at the party’s national secretariat.

7. Report has emerged that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is requesting for N310m to feed and administer drugs to dogs that will be deployed in states for the 2019 elections. The Nigeria Police Force will also need N7m to feed 50 horses that would be used for patrol during the elections which will take place between February 16 and March 2, 2019. These demands is contained in the 2018 virement proposal sent to the National Assembly for the 2019 general election by President Muhammadu Buhari.

8. A report has claimed that the planned defection of the members of the Reformed All Progressives Congress in the House of Representatives earlier scheduled for Thursday has been shifted to next week. This follows an emergency meeting on Thursday, reportedly to drum support for President Muhammadu Buhari and to convince the R-APC faction not to defect.

9. The House of Representatives on Thursday resolved to investigate the revenue leakages of about US$50 billion (N8 trillion) in the solid mineral mining sector, in the last five years. Also to be investigated are the activities of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in tracking and curtailing all solid mineral movements within and outside Nigeria. The resolution followed the adoption of a motion to this effect by Hon. Johnson Agboyinma (APC, Edo).

10. The Ekiti State Government has challenged the Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, to begin his probe of the Ayodele-Fayose led government now, instead of waiting till October 16 when he will be sworn in. Governor Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said this his reaction to Fayemi’s recent threat to probe the government
